NAME: Heronpaw
AGE: 6 moons
GENDER: she-cat
CLAN: RiverClan
a small white she-cat with amber eyes.
APPEARANCE:
Heronpaw was named for her pure white fur. Her mother, Lilac, traveled the world with her Twoleg and saw many curious things. She named three of her kits after these sights. Panda was named for the monstrous black and white creatures her Twoleg showed her, Sky was named for the brilliant skies of Alaska, and Heron was named for the elegant white birds her mother seemed to have an affection for. The moment Lilac laid eyes on her daughter, she knew her name. Heron.
Her fur is short and coarse, but her white coat dirties easily. She makes frequent trips to the river - especially after a rainstorm - to wash the mud and dirt from her fur. Like most RiverClan cats, she loves water, and her muscles have adapted well to the task. She isn't one for fighting because she doesn't like to hurt others. Because she has had little to no battle training, she generally avoids conflict whenever she can. She is skilled at catching fish, and when she's out collecting herbs to replenish the Clan's stock, she almost always returns with a fish for the Clan.
She is very light-weight. Her light pawsteps can easily go undetected by her clanmates, making her a pro at stealth. When she gets that urge, she likes to stalk the warrior apprentices and pounce on them from behind. This is perhaps the only advantage she would ever have on an opponent in battle, for her fighting abilities do not extend much beyond that.
She has dark amber eyes like her mother, which is perhaps the only physical trait that ties her to her kin. Her siblings are multi-colored; Flea is black and white, Panda is black and white, Sky is white and gray. She is the only one who is one, solid color-- white.

PERSONALITY:
Heronpaw is selfless and caring, two traits that prove vital in the role of a medicine cat. She puts the health of her Clan above the health of her own, and she sometimes overworks herself in her heroic attempt to cure every cat of every ailment. Even if she is busy with her own life, if a cat needs something, she will be there. She is never off the clock, and she will drop whatever she is doing to listen to you or help you - even if it's just a minor thorn in your paw. She truly cares about her Clanmates and she makes it a point to get to know them. She isn't outgoing, but she isn't shy. She's merely... Heronpaw. Granted, she has a hard time accepting others because of her brother, but she has worked on that. She finds it difficult to trust others and let them close, for she and Flea(kit) were infinitely so. Before their family left, they were best friends. She hasn't been able to let another cat that close to her since then.
She is a powerhouse, and she works diligently at a task until it has been completed to her standards. This can make her seem like a perfectionist, but, as a medicine-cat-in-training... perfection is necessary, is it not? She will accept nothing short of perfection from herself. If something is not done right, it will bother her forever.
Heronpaw has a certain knack for learning. She is naturally curious and intuitive. Her intelligence is something she boasts proudly, and she hopes that in becoming RiverClan's loyal medicine cat, she will erase any memory of her brother's wrongs. She hates to live in her brother's shadow - if one could even call it that. Her own triumphs are ignored because of her brother's mistakes. Give it time, she constantly reminds herself, they just need time. Soon they'll see you for who you really are. She assures herself with these words.
She's ambitious, but not dangerously so. She merely seeks recognition. With a kind heart and a kindred spirit, she easily sympathizes with one's worries. She is always available if one needs someone to listen, and she offers advice as best she can. Even though she's a mere apprentice, she has shown wisdom beyond her years. Perhaps it is a sign from StarClan that greatness has been born. That's what she tells herself, anyway.
She isn't vain or shallow, and she seeks the good in everyone. She believes in second chances, third chances, fourth chances... she firmly believes that every cat has a moment to redeem themselves. It's why she can't stay mad at her brother. She loves Flea and she defends him when she can, but even she can't explain away his actions. It's a family tie that she will have forever, yet she knows it's useful. After all, in the moons that they lived in the nursery, Flea(kit) never once harmed his sister. In fact, if another cat showed signs of mocking her for her eagerness to listen to the elders' tales, he barred his teeth in defense. However, as much as she loves her brother, if he came back to RiverClan she would send him away as quickly as any other cat would.
Heronpaw is a storyteller. To any cat willing to listen, she will tell stories her mother told her about places all over the world beyond the forest. Her mother may have left in search of her own adventure, but Heronpaw has dedicated herself to starting her own adventure in the forest, with RiverClan as her constant companion and StarClan watching over her.

Heronpaw was born to a kittypet. This kittypet traveled with her Twoleg all over the world. She saw many things: large monsters - larger than the ones any forest cat had ever seen; Twolegs - with so many different pelts it made her head spin; large birds - larger than the ones who chirped merrily outside her window every morning... her Twoleg was a traveler, a sight-seer. She went everywhere with him and saw everything. She learned new words along the way -- Rico, she learned, was the Twoleg's name.
Rico was very kind to Heronpaw's mother. He took her everywhere he went and they did everything together. Some said a dog was man's best friend; he disagreed. Heronpaw's mother, Lilac, was the sweetest creature he had ever known. She helped the man overcome great difficulties in his life and healed him in a way he believed no dog ever could.
When Rico grew ill, he settled back into his permanent home. Lilac stayed by his side though she knew well that she was expecting kittens. She knew they could not be borne into a home such as Rico's. She loved her Twoleg dearly, but, as he grew weaker, she noticed he would forget to feed her and forget to love her. This was no home for her kits.
One day, while her Twoleg was resting, Lilac slipped from her home and ventured outside the kittypet walls. She wasn't sure what she was looking for; she only hoped she'd find answers in the forest behind her home. And she did. She met a group of cats -- a Clan, they called themselves. They lived in the wild, hunted for their own food, and protected themselves. They worked as a unit and left no cat to fend for their own. In the short time she spent there, she felt safe. Just before she left, Lilac had her kits.
She had four kits: Heron, Flea, Panda, and Sky. The cats of the Clan - RiverClan - helped her care for the four kits until they were old enough to make the journey back to Lilac's Twoleg. Lilac, meanwhile, would travel back and forth between RiverClan and her home, carefully watching over her owner. When the kits were old enough to travel, some were hesitant to leave. Heron and Flea, particularly, wanted to stay with the Clan. They had made friends, and this was the only life they had ever known. Panda and Sky, alternatively, never wanted to part from their mother.
It was a difficult decision, but the family split. The Clan's leader allowed Heron and Flea to remain with the clan as Heronkit and Fleakit, and Lilac left with Panda and Sky. They never heard from her again. When they asked some warriors to check in on them, the warriors learned from neighboring kittypets that the Twoleg had recovered and decided to travel the world again. Lilac, Panda, and Sky, went with them.
Heronkit took the news better than her brother, who seemed to have it in his mind that his mother would always be around when he needed her. He became withdrawn from his sister and the rest of the clan; quiet. One would have thought that his mother had died. He slowly became unrecognizable to Heronkit. He would get into trouble for bullying the other kits (although never his sister) and stealing prey from the fresh-kill pile. He would constantly be scolded for stirring trouble in the warrior's den and improperly caring for the elders. These were not normal kit mistakes; they were the results of a lazy, defiant kit who no longer knew who he was.
Just before they were to be made apprentices, it was discovered that Fleakit had deliberately attempted to kill one of his clanmates, a younger kit who[m]* he took pleasure in mocking. Fleakit became the youngest cat to be exiled; he was just shy of six moons when he was banished from RiverClan.
The kit whom he poisoned was strong, and she fought for her life. Heronkit, on the other hand, was a complete wreck.
She spent most of her days leading up to her apprenticeship in the medicine cat's den, apologizing over and over for her brother's actions. She immersed herself in the mysteries of herbs. She demanded to know what a certain herb was and what its function was. She was naturally curious, and she drilled the medicine cat with question after question, truly delighted by the information she received. By the time she turned six moons, she had secured the position of medicine cat apprentice.
KIN: Flea (rogue)
