The sun flared mercilessly onto the forest, as light desperately filters the gaping holes of the canopy. Mice of the forest darted to and fro with their cheek-pouches filled with nuts and seeds. They were silent, fast and seemingly invisible. The ginger-coloured warrior padded forward nimbly on her all fours. She had no intention in hunting despite having being surrounded by the mouth-watering scent of her all-time delicacies. She was on a mission; a very important one. Knowing of the chances of her succeeding was not high, she still pursued it, holding onto that blind faith.
Making a stop from her constant walk so far, she held her head high, as she heaved in huge breath through her nostrils. Lichen, birch, mice, dirt, leaf-litter. Her heart sunk. It was yet another negative result. Growing tired of her constant failures, she poked her nose into the air once again and walked on whilst scenting out his scent. Her heart cried as the scents remained similar as to how it was with the attempt earlier. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary-- which was what the warrior has been searching out for. She was heartbroken, and was determined to healed her wounded heart. It had been long ago since the tragedy occurred. The tragedy that had placed her under this dark spell ever since.
Yes, she was strong, forgiving and had the willingness to move on, everyone in the clan could see that. She was as proud as them on her progress so far. However lately, peculiar, frightening dreams had been greatly disturbing her mind. Dreams-- or nightmares of her once-beloved. She grew restless. Small arguments would occur between her and a handful of the clan members-- a result of her patience thinning. She was plummeting down a spiral, leading deep into a dark abyss as she was driven with the maddening state of confusion; both mentally and emotionally.
And so she was here today, hopeful to find her ex-mate, still haunting the area every once in awhile. No matter how ridiculous the entire mission would be, it was not for her.
