- NAME: Spottedpaw
- AGE: 8 moons
- GENDER: Female
- RANK: Medicine cat apprentice
- CLAN: Shadow
- DESCRIPTION:
Spottedpaw is a bright-hearted tabby she-cat with more dreams than she can keep track of. The one thing she knows is that the Clan will always come first, even at the cost of her life.
- APPEARANCE:
Spottedpaw is known for the glossy look in her murky green eyes, the way her short tail twitches when her mind is off on a new adventure. Her midnight-striped pelt is made of fallen leaves; her face, paws, and chest are splashed with winter snow.
The apprentice is small and emaciated from the winter's famine. Her belly is flecked with the left over midnight from her stripes. She walks on four paws that are always muddy, save when she's just eaten, and her claws are always stuck with clumps of dirt. In contrast, her long whiskers are always free of grime.
- PERSONALITY:
The best thing about the forest-eyed she-cat is that she can dream. Spottedpaw's dreams reach further than any cat's that she knows. She wishes to serve her Clan with diligence and make her mark on the other Clans as well. As large as her dream of becoming a legend may be, her smaller dreams are far more interesting. She seeks to make every cat comfortable and healthy at any time of day or night. She spends her free time on hunting patrols with her once-littermates and keeps an eye out for herbs while she's doing it.
The biggest threat to such an eager she-cat is that she will spread herself thin, take on too much, and tire herself out. She may be diligent, kind, and energetic but there is the ever-present threat that she will simply tire herself out before the going gets tough. The she-cat, though she knows the difficult of harsh winters, has never before met the challenge of inter-Clan battles. She has never known the threat of another Clan, only peacetime. Peacetime makes cats careless and an inexperienced medicine cat apprentice is no exception.
Spottedpaw earnestly helps any cat, but does not take very good care of herself. She often drains herself assisting others and hardly takes the time to sleep or eat. So long as there is work to be done, the sprightly she-cat is on her paws, whether or not her paws are due for a nice rest. Her desperation to make something of herself allows her to mask fatigue, furstration, and hunger. Outwardly she is bright-eyed and soft-spoken, putting on a cheerful front while she inwardly berates herself for not doing enough, not pushing herself far enough. The inner turmoil manifests itself in nightmares, which only gives her more reason to spend her nights easing the aches and pains of the elders.
- HISTORY:
Eight moons is nowhere near long enough to have a well-defined history. Eight moons is hardly any time at all, despite the fact that most cats don't see many years past their sixteenth moon - not with famines, skirmishes, and accidents. Spottedpaw was born in the midst of peacetime, but even peacetime for a Clan cat could be filled with various degrees of sorrow. Sorrow that, to a newly born creature at least, means nothing at all.
As a kit, the dreamy-eyed tabby knew only that, one day, she would be one of the apprentices tramping about with moss stuck to the tips of their whiskers. She did not, however, expect to be the apprentice of Raintail, ShadowClan's medicine cat. No, she spent her first five moons preparing to be apprenticed to one of the finest warriors in the Clan. Being asked to care for her Clanmates and memorize the names of stinking herbs was farthest from her mind.
Just before her sixth moon, Spottedpaw witnessed the result of a badger attack. The sight of free-flowing blood and irreparable wounds sparked both fear and pity in the heart of the she-kit. She soon found herself, on her mid-day wanderings outside of the nursery, lurking in the shadows near Raintail's den. As she watched Raintail care for the new queens and raspy voiced elders, Spottedpaw wondered if, perhaps, she would be able to help. It was decided, on the day of her apprentice ceremony, that she would train under Raintail.
Since then, she has done her best to live up to the expectations of those around her. It is a difficult path, as she has learned, but Spottedpaw walks it with pride and hope that her feats might one day be remembered.
