I got bored and decided to be lazy on this bio. I shall continue working and fleshing out this bio after Ferret is accepted, but I just wanna role-play right now so... yeah. Suffer the terrible-ness and whatnot for awhile.
- NAME: Ferretfang
- AGE: Twenty-nine moons
- GENDER: Tom
- CLAN: WindClan
- RANK: Deputy
- DESCRIPTION:
Ferretfang. The thoughts that word brings to mind might be a narrow, slender figure or ginger patches on white fur. As you think harder, you might be able to bring images of a cold observant gaze to mind. At first you could remember him as standoffish and quiet, but upon further reflection know that he's not at all distant nor distracted. So, perhaps Ferretfang is a slender ginger-and-white cat with a standoffish first impression but an actually keen and observant mind.
- APPEARANCE:
Ferretfang is particularly slim and slender, almost on the scrawny side. He's not built for battle or even physically-demanding running, but he makes up for this with his intelligence: which is made quite clear by the clever look in his green eyes. Ferretfang has ginger patches decorating his white, bony frame and it is from this detail he receives his prefix, "Ferret". The suffix of his name, although usually reserved for those finely skilled in battle, comes from the surprising ferocity he displays despite his dislike of fighting with claw and tooth.
- PERSONALITY:
Warn your warmth to turn away. Anyone could tell you that Ferretfang, upon first impression, is not a very inviting character. He's an introvert, essentially not going beyond courteous conversation with a stranger. He truly trusts only a few privileged cats and grows very close to them, due to how hard it is to gain that loyalty and devotion from him. To outsiders, he's standoffish and cold, yet this is because they do not understand how Ferretfang works. Truth be told his apparent insensitivity and unwillingness to socialize too greatly does not mean he's ignorant of the world around him. Ferretfang is quite tuned into his surroundings, casting him off as anti-social when he's very well aware of anything and everything... Don't worry, he's very aware of you, too.
You see but do not observe. Ferretfang could swear by StarClan that WindClan might as well be blind. From a young age he had seen the world differently, even if it was not to his knowledge no one else seemed to share how he saw the world around him. The smallest details screamed out to him: the disagreeing ear twitch of a Clanmate, an expression of subtle emotion in prey, an isolated drop of dew on a cat's whiskers... It had caused him to become overwhelmed on a number of occasions, usually when surrounded by too much at one time. He couldn't block out the little bits of information surrounding him, it was just so engaging and interesting to the point of overloading his thoughts and senses. But be it a blessing or curse, Ferretfang saw and observed. Everyone might know that there are cats in a Clan, but Ferretfang could tell you precisely how many there were. Elders, warriors, apprentices, queens, kits... he could give a number for each.
A complex mind; all great criminals have that. If there is anything Ferretfang has learned throughout his young life, it would be to not underestimate anyone. This is the key to his successful powers of problem-solving and observation. Within everyone he senses the ability to be anything at all-- anything. On occasion he struggles with keeping an open-mind, especially when deducing the motivations of others and giving credit where it is due. Ferretfang knows that judging others by one's own opinion of the world cuts off half your sources of knowledge. It is for this reason he may sometimes be seen making an effort to make company of any and all sorts of characters. From those you would consider "low-lives" to the more socially accepted cats, Ferretfang pushes himself to have a neutral look on the world around him.
Summary:
Ferretfang comes off as standoffish and unwilling to socialize, but this is due to the quiet intelligence and observation skills which separate him from others. Although he lends his clever abilities to the good of his Clan, no one can deny his equal ability to be crafty. All in all, Ferretfang walks a fine, grey line, not defined by being "good" or "bad". This warrior, unlike others, does not readily give his opinion. Should it be necessary, Ferretfang may speak up calmly but never to the point of strong arguments... That is, not in front of an audience. He plays a gentleman for society, but when alone with the few he truly trusts, he transforms into a much darker sort of character. Ferretfang suffers from hypnophobia, due to the terrible nightmares he is prone to. This lends to the crazier, distressed side of him you rarely see, and usually to the ever more apparent, overwhelmingly observant trait. - HISTORY:
Mousetail and Breezefur were never one of the more "popular" couples in WindClan, and it was questionable if their Clanmates even knew they were mates. Neither of the two warriors were particularly attractive, not acknowledged very much by others throughout their apprentice days and beyond. Mousetail, appropriately named for his long, fuzz-covered brown tail, was a shy creature who had quickly made friends with his denmate when they were both young. Breezefur was immediately indentified by her wispy, thick, and tangled fur which might have been quite pretty if she only had the means of grooming it properly. The two warriors didn't come into focus until Breezefur announced she was expecting kits, which pleasantly surprised most of WindClan. Some, however, gossiped quietly among themselves about how ugly the kits might be between the two less-than-beautiful warriors.
Finally, the day came when Mousetail had to call upon the medicine cat for assistance to his mate. Three kits became the newest additions to WindClan that day, and the humble parents politely welcomed others to see the sweet, slumbering kits. The eldest resembled his father, although his fur was beautifully long but not to the extent of his mother's. They named this kit Harepaw, and noted that even though he was firstborn, they'd love all their kits equally. The middle kit was ginger-and-white, earning him the name Ferretkit. The youngest was a lovely calico she-kit, named Fernkit. This little family was content, and the kits quickly grew up.
It would be safe to say, I think, that it was when they were kits did the siblings interact the most with each other. Despite not being the eldest of the three, Ferretkit was obviously the dominant one. He was quiet and did not spend much time with his siblings in play. But when there were things to stir their curiousity and be examined, Ferretkit was always there, leading their little parade. Harepaw and Fernpaw loved their brother, but he was odd and therefore not to be bothered. If anything, their relationship was out of the fact that they were littermates. This called for respect and tolerance, but they never grew too terribly close together. After becoming apprentices, the siblings drew even further apart and finally when they were warriors, all communicating disappeared between the two and their brother. Hareflight and Fernheart often times talk to each other, but they lead their own lives now.
While growing up, especially as an apprentice, Ferretpaw kept to himself. He did, however, have one close friend. Today, he'd be recognized as the honorable Swiftstar, but Ferretfang knows him previously as the strong-willed Swiftpaw he once was. The two, although not necessarily inseparable, were indeed very close friends. They shared their ambitions, ideas, plans, and opinions with each other. Their differences and disagreements were, amazingly, what made them so strong in their friendship. As warriors, they never stopped spending time with each other and talking until the sun burned out on the horizon. One day, his friend became deputy at a young age. Ferretfang was proud for
