♦ Description ♦
-->> easy on the eyes
the soft coat of this apprentice is beautiful. a very gentle orange, with slightly darker stripes throughout, he is quite easy on the eyes. throughout his coat, there is ample amounts of light cream and white highlighting the orange pigments. his belly is almost white, with a tinge of orange, and it stretches up to just between his two front legs. on his legs, there isn’t much colour variety but his left hind leg, as the ugly scar that caused him to be slightly gimped, though not causing him any problems or difficulties. his front paws are white, his hind legs, the same colour as his legs. the toms face is delicately painted with dark brown, one his forehead, and under eyes, on his cheeks. the toms whiskers are white and fairly long. his eyes are a pale green, and are very observant.
-->>little; like a bug
his build, is not very big at all. he is a very small framed tom but he is strong through his torso, and fairly solid. his legs, with the small exception of his left hind, are also strong. his paws, are very proportionate to his body, and carry him well, though sometimes they seem to have a mind of their own. as most apprentices are at first, he is relatively clumsy, but this will change with age surely.
♦ Personality ♦
-->> attentive && quick witted
everyone always hears about that apprentice who never listens and who always zones out from what their mentor is saying. well, emberpaw has these days, but the majority of the time, he is totally focused on everything that his mentor is saying. he is completely fascinated by the concept of using herbs to heal wounds, using the earth’s children to help them survive. he is constantly asking questions about what something is used for and even if he sees a herb that he knows could have no benefits at all, he will ask why to try and stump his mentor. emberpaw also learns very quickly and isn't afraid to challenge something that he is told.
-->>short tempered but compassionate
not a very attractive feature for a medicine cat, but not everyone is perfect. the one personality trait he received from his mother was her short temper. though he hates that he has this, he can't do much about it. he tries to calm himself when he gets angry or frustrated but he usually just makes matters worse. despite the fact that he gets mad easily, he has a huge heart and it holds great compassion for his clanmates and he feels no shame in apologizing to someone who he might've snapped at while he was in a rotten mood and hating everyone and thing around him.
♦ History ♦
It was with a heavy heart that the clan realized Foresteyes was pregnant. The suspicious, weak hearted, frail she-cat had gotten herself knocked up by a loner. The Clan frowned upon the she-cat more for the fact that they were certain that she would not live through the birth of her kit. Yes kit, the medicine cat felt her stomach and found only one heart beat other than the she-cats. The clan feared that this would send her into a depression, and it did. The life of one kit was not enough to satisfy her empty heart and she blamed it on her Clan. With a wild expression and deranged eyes, she swore to StarClan that she would destroy the kit that came out of her.
The Clan was ripe with anticipation and fear for when the kit was to be born. As the days turned into moons and the day of birth came closer, the she-cat's demeanour darkened even more than it used to be. Poison dripped from her every word, daggers shot from her eyes with the glares she exchanged with her Clanmates. She was constantly angry with the world and was bordering on the edge of insanity when the day the contractions started. Pain like she never knew ripped through her body and she wailed wanting this kit to be out of her. All thoughts of destroying the kit were lost in the blind pain that she felt.
Finally the kitten came, pale orange with beautiful green eyes, though frail and small like his mother. Foresteyes looked upon her kit with loathing and with a glance to the blood that was spilt by the birth of her son she growled and gave him a kick, and growled out the name Crimsonkit with loathing. The kitten yowled and shivered without the presence of his mother to clean him. The medicine cat stared at Foresteyes with horror and swiftly started cleaning the kit, trying to keep him warm. A queen within the den took it upon herself to tell Foresteyes she was not welcome in the nursery anymore.
Pain ridden still, her eyes still clouded from it, she hissed viciously at the queen and without a look to her still mewling kit, she flew from the nursery and out of Rainclan. Crimsonkit was taken by a queen, and placed under her care. He was tiny, and remained that way for a fair number of moons, until he got sick of sitting in the den and wandered outside into the world. By now, Foresteyes had returned, still angry with everything and when she looked upon him, her brow furrowed and she released a growl that scared the fur off the poor kitten. With a loud mewl, he turned tail and shot back to the nursery, but Foresteyes in an attempt to do what she swore to do to him, took a swipe at him that caught his left hind leg.
The she-cats claws dug in deep and tore a tender. She was swiftly neutralized by the Clan mates and Crimsonpaw was whisked away into the medicine cats den with blood staining his soft orange pelt crimson. Repairing the tendon was not something that was easily done; he remained in the den for the better part of a moon, growing past his fifth moon clear into his sixth under the supervision of the medicine cat. Within this time, all Crimsonpaw’s longings of wanting to be a warrior evaporated along with the pain. He decided he wanted to be a medicine cat. He was absolutely fascinated and was always asking questions. And since he had no training as a warrior, he had nothing holding him back.
Slowly he was able to walk again, though with a slight limp, but it did not compromise what he was able to do all that much. And since he was dead set on becoming a medicine cat, he wasn't too overly concerned about his leg. The burdens his mother placed on the clan were never to be his. He was the polar opposite of the she-cat: happy, lovable, and very caring. But it was noted that he shared her temper, which was a cause for some skepticism about him becoming the medicine cats’ apprentice. It was decided, that since he showed no other signs of being like her, he would do well serving the clan thusly.
On his eigth moon, the leader of the Clan decided that Crimsonpaw should no longer have to live with the horrendous name his mother had given him. A special ceremony was held, a naming ceremony, for the young, hopeful apprentice. He removed the name of Crimsonpaw, with StarClan as his witness and gave the apprentice his new name: Emberpaw, a more suitable name for the loving medicine cat apprentice.
